Talking Circle

(Talking Circle)?

Talking Circle

360 Community Gathering|Cantonese Talking Circle

Environmental Protection & Economic Development: Can They Coexist?

This Saturday at 3:00pm, we will gather at St. Alban’s Anglican Church (Richmond) and enter into a conversation using the Indigenous Talking Circle tradition — a way of sharing that invites honesty, listening, and connection.

What Is an Indigenous Talking Circle?

A Talking Circle is a traditional Indigenous practice rooted in deep listening, equality, and respect. It is not a debate, not a meeting, and not a place to convince others. It is a space where everyone can speak safely — and where silence is also welcome.

In a Talking Circle, we:

  • Sit in a circle — symbolizing equality and connection
  • Speak one at a time — others simply listen
  • Share from the heart, listen with respect
  • Hold a space without right or wrong
  • Honour silence as much as words

The circle creates a gentle, safe environment where we can slow down, listen deeply, and understand one another.

This Week’s Theme: Environment & Economy

In Cantonese, we will explore questions that affect all of us:

Do environmental protection and economic development have to conflict? Or is it possible for them to move forward together?

Whether you care about climate, the next generation, the community, or simply want a quiet space to hear different perspectives, you are warmly welcome to join us.
